Our Life as a Prayer – Pastoral Letter

Dearest Community,

I came across the following quote from Dorothy Day recently and it got me pondering.

I believe some people – lots of people – pray through the witness of their lives, through the work they do, the friendships they have, the love they offer and receive from people. Since when are words the only acceptable form of prayer?

~ Dorothy Day, The Reckless Way of Love: Notes on Following Jesus

When we only look at prayer as something that happens in the quiet solitude of isolated places, like a monastery, we miss out on the ways that our very lives are a form of prayer. Seeing our lives as a form of prayer call us forth to live in a new way.

In what ways is your life an offering of prayer?

Blessings,

Rev. Joel

P.S. I wrote this on Tuesday, but even after reading about the Supreme Court decision this morning, it still seems to stand.
